Make Yourself Ready for Dental Emergency

No one knows the future. Life can show us any phase of life at any time. Any mishap or accident can happen with anyone so we must be aware to face such type of sudden misfortune. The most affected and sensitive part of our body is our tooth, thereby being aware that “what to do” when it occurs to you or your kith and kin; can really make difference between losing and saving a tooth.

What to Do and When To Do?

Keeping in mind the necessity of emergency dental care, here some tips are recommended that we should follow when life shows us negative phase of life:

  • Bitten Tongue and Lips:

Clean the area with water and apply an ice pack to minimize swelling. If the ice pack fails to stop bleeding, rush to your dentist as soon as possible.

  • Cracked Tooth:

Rinse off your mouth immediately with warm water and use a cold compress to the affected area to diminish pain and swelling until you reach to an emergency dentist.

  • Broken Jaw:

Use an ice pack to decrease swelling and visit your dentist without delay.

  • Knocked Out or Adult Tooth:

Rinse it off immediately without taking off any attached tissue. Try to hold the knocked out tooth in the socket and if not possible, put it in a glass of milk and contact your dentist right away.

  • Object Stuck in Teeth:

If any object gets stuck in your teeth, try to get it off attentively with the help of a dental floss. Never try to dislodge it with a sharp or pointed instrument instead. If you fail in removing it, go to the dental hospital right away.

  • Toothache:

Firstly rinse off the mouth using warm water, thereafter make sure that there is no debris or food between your teeth causing pain. If still you don’t feel relief from toothache, contact your dentist.

  • Lost Dental Filling:

Seal the area with sugarless gum or dental cement for time being. Thereafter consult your doctor.

  • Dental Abscess:

If there is a painful blister on your gums, gargle with salty water. If the problem persists, contact your dentist soon. Dental abscess can be more severe ailment if not treated on time.
